ENEP participates in Green Infrastructure Working Group
Mike Barker, the Chair of the ENEP Biodiversity Working Group, represents ENEP at DG Environment’s Green Infrastructure Implementation and Restoration (GIIR) Working Group. The Commission has decided, after consultation of and in agreement with the Coordination Group on Nature and Biodiversity, to set up an Expert Working Group to support the implementation of the Green Infrastructure Strategy. The first meeting of the new working group took place in Brussels on 24 March 2014. Topics on the agenda included ‘Progress on the Biodiversity Strategy implementation: Green Infrastructure and restoration in its policy context’ and ‘Progress on the implementation of Green Infrastructure and restoration in Member States’. One of the main purposes of the Working Group is to identify ways to facilitate the sharing of best practices among Member States. Its participants will meet again in June and November 2014 to discuss ideas. More information on the EC's Green Infrastructure policy can be found here.
