On 12th December, representatives of the ENEP Biodiversity working group (BioWG), Mike Barker (chair/CIEEM) and Angels Moragues (Vice-Chair/AFIE) held a series of information meetings in Brussels. The programme was organised and supported by ENEP Brussels representatives Simon Pascoe and Frederick van Mierlo. The group met with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), as well as DG Environment and DG Development Cooperation at the European Commission.
With the shape of the Common Agriculture Policy (CAP) package agreed upon by the Parliament and EU Ministers in June 2013, the EEB, CEEweb and representatives of the Commission and Member States debated last week how to get the most out of a ‘grey’ deal for the environment.
On 1-2 December 2014, the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) celebrated forty years of environmental action by holding a thought-provoking conference that looked at the environmental challenges facing Europe and the wider world in the years ahead and the opportunities for overcoming them. The emerging approach of the Juncker Commission and environmental policy was an issue of particular focus during the two days.
